‘KARAOKE” CONTEST
July 24, 2009
RULES:
1.
This is an Amateur KARAOKE Contest. No Professional Singers.
a.
A professional
is defined as someone who has made money from singing
on a regular or semi-regular basis.
b.
An amateur
is defined as someone who has never been paid on a regular or semi-regular
basis.
(Example: If you receive payment twice over the past
two years, for singing at weddings, this would not be a regular basis.)
c.
KARAOKE
DJ’s are not eligible to participate in this contest.
d.
Winners
from prior contest are not eligible to enter in the same class but are invited
to join us and will be given a chance to perform based on available time.
2.
Contest
will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 during the Annie Oakley Days Festival at
the Darke County Fairgrounds. The
competition will begin not later than 7:00 p.m., but may begin earlier,
depending on the number of entries.
3.
Entries for the contest will be accepted as received.
Entry Fee of $5.00 must accompany each entry. Entries received without the full entry fee will be
discarded. Maximum number of
entries is 50. Deadline for all
entries will be when all 50 entries have been filled or 9:00 p.m. July 24, 2009,
whichever occurs first. No refund
of entry fees will be made. Substitutions
may be accepted subject to the approval of E.G.’s
Jamming Time “KARAOKE” representative.
4.
Contestants can select a song from E.G.’s
Jamming Time “KARAOKE” song list or they may bring their own KARAOKE CDG.
All contestants must utilize an original KARAOKE disc.
No illegal Karaoke CDG’s or
taped music. Song
selections cannot be changed after they have been registered.
Performers must remain on stage
during their performance.
5.
Entries will be divided into two divisions: (1) 17 and under, and (2) 18
and over. Contestants
may be solo, or in a group. The
oldest member of a group will determine which division
they are entered in.
6.
Entrant
(s) will be called in the order in which they are registered.
If the entrant (s) is not present when called, they will be passed over
for one song and called a second time. If
the entrant (s) is still not present they will be passed over again for one
song. Having been passed over
twice, the entrant (s) will be called a third and final time.
If they are still not present, they will be eliminated and their entry
fee forfeited.
7.
There
will be three winners in each class.
Prizes will be as follows:
1st Place:
$100.00 plus one eight (8) hour recording session ($1200.00
value)
at “Big Mama Recording Studio” in
Seymour, TN
2nd Place
$50.00 plus one eight (8) hour recording
session ($1200.00
value) at “Big
Mama Recording Studio” in Seymour, TN
3rd Place:
$25.00 plus one eight (8) hour recording
session ($1200.00
value) at “Big
Mama Recording Studio” in Seymour, TN
Other prizes
may be awarded at the discretion of E.G.’s Jamming Time representative.
8.
You will
be judged on:
a.
Vocals
– Voice
control and singing on pitch.
b.
Stage
Presence –
Eye contact, hand and body movement and how you handle yourself on stage.
c.
Originality
– How you
interpret a song and how much the singer can make the song his/her own.
d.
Stage
Attire and Props.
9.
Five
judges will score the contestants in each category, rating them on a scale of 1
– 10 with 10 being the highest. The
highest and lowest total score, by judge will be thrown out and the other three
added together giving each contestant a possible score of 120 points.
In the event of a tie, a “sing-off” will be held.
Entrant (s) involved in the tie will be given 10 minutes to select
another song.
10.
All
scores are final as received from the judges.
11.
Giving
false information on the entry form is reason for immediate disqualification and
loss
of entry fee. Songs
containing profanity are not permitted and may result in immediate
disqualification and loss of entry fee.
12.
Additional
rules and eligibility requirements may be announced prior to the beginning of
the contest.
13.
The
winners of the recording sessions are solely responsible for calling Big Mama
Recording
Studios within thirty (30) days of winning this contest to register.
Failure to register within
thirty (30) days subjects the winner to loss
of recording time.
14.
All
challenged contestants prizes will be withheld pending investigation.
All challenges
must be in writing prior to the awarding of prizes on Friday, July 24,
2009. Challenges
received after this time will be considered null and void.
The challenge must contain the
name of the complainant, the name of the individual being challenged the
reason for the
challenge and any other pertinent information to support their challenge.
E.G.’s Jamming
Time “KARAOKE”, with the assistance of the other primary sponsors
will investigate the
challenge. The findings of this review committee will be final and
binding on all parties.
15.
All
Participants agree to abide by these rules.
16.
Any
violation of these rules shall be grounds for immediate disqualification and
forfeiture
of their entry fee and/or prizes.
E.G.’s Jamming Time “KARAOKE”, Annie Oakley Festival Committee, and
any other sponsors are not
Responsible for any claims, offers or promises beyond those appearing in
writing above. E.G.’s Jamming
Time “KARAOKE” is not responsible for the actions or inaction’s of
Big Mama Recording Studios after a
Winner has been selected. Winners are solely responsible for
contacting Big Mama Recording Studios
within (30) thirty days of this contest to receive recording session
guidelines. There are additional charges.
Tape is not included. This may not be substituted and has no cash value
beyond the prizes listed.
